torrential rainfall while standing under a bridge in a village in Chungliao Township, Nantou County.
The woman, surnamed Huang, had been washing clothing under the bridge and was later found dead by rescue members, according to the Nantou County Fire Department, as cited by the United Evening News.
Department officials said they sent several water rescue teams to the scene soon after being informed of the accident at 5:40 p.m., but the woman showed no signs of life upon being found at 6:23 p.m.
She was rushed to Nantou Hospital for emergency treatment but could not be resuscitated, officials said.
