Vice President Chen Chien-jen said the government will continue to boost national defense and the aerospace industry. He was speaking on Thursday at the opening of the 2017 Taipei Aerospace and Defense Technology Exhibition.

Chen said that the aerospace and defense industries are the benchmark when it comes to producing high-tech, quality products. He said the two industries integrate many key sectors, such as mechanics, electronic communications and manufacturing. Chen said the government will continue to boost the defense industry by promoting research, development, and manufacturing of indigenous fighter jets and warships.

Chen Yi-ling, chief secretary of the economics ministry, said Taiwan’s aerospace industry has seen significant growth in recent years. Chen said this demonstrates Taiwan’s growing competitiveness in the sector.    [FULL  STORY]
