TAIPEI, Taiwan — A Taipei man who went missing for more than a month after embarking on a cross-

island hike was found alive by rescue teams Tuesday in Hualien.
The 29-year-old Taipei resident surnamed Lee was found today by a rescue team, which provided food and is readying for him to be airlifted out of the area by helicopter.
Lee started his trek on May 13 from Nantou and had planned to reach Hualien 15 days later, with his last reported cell contact made on May 15. He was reported missing by his parents on June 3, but rescue teams had been unable to locate him for many days.
Lee later placed a call on June 14 reporting a leg injury and giving a description of his probable location. He added that he had fallen into a ravine and had eaten all his remaining provisions.
The latest rescue team was dispatched from Hualien a day later, making its way to Lee’s probable location despite heavy rains. [FULL STORY]
