employees said they will be invited by their employers to attend a “Weiya,” the year-end celebration dinner in Chinese society, a survey released Friday showed.
According to the 1111 online job bank, which conducted the survey, about 78 percent of the 1,260 respondents said they will enjoy the dinner this year, up from 67.80 percent recorded in a similar poll last year.
1111 Job Bank Vice President Daniel Lee (李大華) said recent economic data has bolstered employers’ confidence in their business prospects and left them more willing to hold the morale-boosting dinner for their employees.
Late last month, the Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS) raised its forecast for gross domestic product (GDP) growth for Taiwan in 2016 by 0.13 percentage points from an earlier estimate to 1.35 percent because of a recovery in exports. [FULL STORY]
