Taiwan’s military base tour scandal has become even more embarrassing following revelations

that authorities failed to mention that there were an additional six people — all foreign nationals — in the group that made an unauthorized visit to the ROC Army’s 601st Aviation Brigade in Taoyuan on March 29.

Last Friday, the Army announced that a total of 20 visitors, including TV celebrity Janet Lee and her husband, had been invited to the base to see the ROC Army’s attack helicopter squadron by Lt Col Lao Nai-cheng, who did not have approval from his superiors. During the tour, the pilot gave his guests access to a hangar that houses AH-64E Apaches, Taiwan’s most advanced chopper, even allowing them to board one of the helicopters and take photos.
