Cold, wet weather for coming week in northern Taiwan

afternoon, bringing lows of 14-15 degrees Celsius in northern Taiwan and rain in northern and central parts of the country from Monday through Wednesday, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said Sunday.

It will be partly cloudy to sunny in most parts of Taiwan and the highs will range between 21-23 degrees in northern Taiwan and Yilan and Hualien counties in the eastern part of the country on Sunday, the bureau said.

There is a chance of showers in eastern Taiwan and the mountainous areas in northern Taiwan, but the coming cold front will bring clouds to northern Taiwan on Sunday night, according to the bureau.

There is chance of snow in the high mountains of the island on Monday and again on Thursday and Friday as another cold front will bring in rain to central and northern Taiwan, said the bureau.     [FULL  STORY]

Taipei, Jan. 6 (CNA) Temperatures around Taiwan are expected to fall later 37727891Wednesday and in the coming days, but the heavy rain that peppered much of the island on Wednesday morning should ease up, according to the Central Weather Bureau.

A moist weather front dumped heavy rain on northern and central Taiwan early Wednesday morning, with parts of Taichung, and Miaoli reporting over 50 millimeters of accumulated rainfall from 5:20 a.m. to 11:20 a.m.

Parts of Hsinchu, Nantou, Taoyuan and Taipei reported over 40mm of rainfall during the same period.

The bureau also issued a heavy rain warning at 10:10 a.m. for Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, and Miaoli in the north and Taichung in central Taiwan as well as the outlying island of Penghu.      [FULL  STORY]

According to Central Weather Bureau reports, 30.5, 30.2 and 29.9 degrees Celsius respectively registered in Taipei City, Banqiao and Tamsui were the highest temperatures in Taiwan on Tuesday.

The bureau said the environmental wind field turning to southeast wind, northward movement of the southern warm air masses, and little clouds in the sky combined to make the temperature rise, which was especially evident in central and northern Taiwan.     [FULL  STORY]

Mild weather expected before Christmas: weather bureau

Taipei, Dec. 19 (CNA) Taiwan could continue to see mild weather until Dec. 542114324, when moisture-bearing cold air might bring a cold and wet Christmas to northern Taiwan, the Central Weather Bureau said Saturday.

Daytime high temperatures through Dec. 23 could reach 25 degrees Celsius in northern Taiwan, and 28 degrees in central and southern parts of the country, forecasters said.

Lows could hover steadily between 17 and 20 degrees during that period islandwide, with mostly cloudy weather and occasional showers on Sunday and Monday, bureau data showed.

coldest weather since the start of winter Thursday morning, with Chiayi recording the lowest temperature at 11.2 degrees Celsius, the Central Weather Bureau said.

Meanwhile, Yushan, the tallest peak in Taiwan at 3,952 meters, recorded the lowest temperature of 3 degrees below zero but did not get the season’s first snow as forecast, because the cold air mass failed to bring sufficient moisture for the creation of snow, the bureau said.

The bureau said the drop in temperature is caused by a cold front that will affect Taiwan the most from December 16 to the morning of December 18.

In addition, low temperatures were also revised downward to 11 degrees from 12 degrees for central Taiwan and northeastern Taiwan, and to 13 degrees from 14 degrees for southern Taiwan.

Even though the cold air mass will be at its strongest on December 16 and 17, northern and northeastern Taiwan will see daytime highs of 15 and 16 degrees, while highs for central and southern Taiwan will reach 20 degrees and above.     [FULL  STORY]

lead daytime temperatures to drop in northern Taiwan by 4 to 6 degrees on Sunday when compared to yesterday.

As for rainfall forecasts, this weather front is expected to bring intermittent rain to the island, especially to northern and northeastern Taiwan, where wet weather conditions are more obvious, with heavier rain possible in some areas.

Wet and rainy weather conditions will remain for the whole day on Sunday in northern Taiwan, with highs of about 19 or 20 in the north and Ilan County; while central and southern Taiwan as well as Hualien and Taitung Counties in eastern Taiwan will see cool and comfortable weather, with highs of 23 to 25 degrees, the forecast said.

Taipei, Dec. 4 (CNA) Temperatures will rise during the day Friday after a 56000159chilly morning but the weather is expected to turn cool and wet again Sunday, according to the Central Weather Bureau.

The northeastern seasonal winds that have been affecting northern and eastern Taiwan since late Wednesday will give way to warmer weather later Friday, with highs of between 19 to 23 degrees Celsius in the northern and eastern parts of the island, the bureau said.

Highs in central and southern Taiwan will range between 25 and 28 degrees, it said.

northern Taiwan are forecast to fall below 15 degrees from Friday evening with the arrival of seasonal northeasterly winds.

The Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said daytime highs in northern Taiwan could climb up to 26-27 degrees Wednesday and 30 degrees in central and southern Taiwan, but temperatures will begin dropping later the same day as a strengthening northeasterly wind approaches.

The strong seasonal wind will come closest to Taiwan Friday, when the temperature in Taipei are likely to dip below 15 degrees, the bureau said.

Mild weather in Taiwan forecast to last through Wednesday

Taipei, Nov. 28 (CNA) The weather in Taiwan is expected to 30941307remain mild through to Wednesday next week, with daytime highs of 26-30 degrees Celsius across the island Sunday, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said Saturday.

Mostly sunny skies are likely islandwide for the next four days, with some sporadic showers in northern and northeastern areas of the country on Monday and Tuesday due to increasing seasonal winds, the CWB said.
