CDC: Flu Shots Safe

Health officials are calling on the public to make sure to get their flu
shots, saying that the vaccines are safe.

The Centers for Disease Control says the issues that have recently come up
for vaccines, including floating particles and color changes, do not affect
the quality and effectiveness of the shot.

The CDC also points out that most of these defects were discovered by medical
personnel conducting checks on innoculation supplies, well before the vaccine
is administered to a patient.

Officials say of those with severe cases of influenza infection this season,
90-percent are patients who have not received their shots.
