Chan and Hingis bag their ninth title of the year

have taken their ninth women’s doubles title of the year with a relatively comfortable victory in the finals of the China Open on Sunday.

The duo, seeded first this week in Beijing after moving up to the top two spots in the world’s women’s doubles rankings, topped fourth seeds Timea Babos of Hungary and Andrea Hlavackova of the Czech Republic 6-1, 6-4 in just over an hour.

After whipping through the first set, Chan and Hingis secured the only break of the second set at 3-3 and held their final two service games with little drama to clinch the match.

The victory extended a remarkable run for Chan and Hingis, giving them their fourth consecutive title following wins at the Western & Southern Open in August and the U.S. Open and Wuhan Open in September.    [FULL  STORY]
