China has decided not to participate in the team events at the 2017 Taipei Universiade in August

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The draw for the team events at the 2017 Taipei
Universiade was held on May 11 in the Taipei Shangri-la Hotel, but China did not sign up for any team sports due to a scheduling conflict with the National Games of China.
According to the International University Sports Federation (FISU), the Chinese delegation sent a letter before and indicated that China is willing to attend the Taipei Universiade, but unable to send athletes for the team events. It did not provide any further reasons or explanations.
However, the Chinese delegation spoke to the Taipei city government two days ago and explained that during the same period most of the top Chinese athletes will represent their own province at the National Games of China, the premier sporting event in China at the national level, Taipei Universiade Organizing Committee executive director Su Li-chiong(蘇麗瓊) said.
