Taiwan’s government rejected applications from the two Chinese airlines to add more cross-strait flights to their schedules over the holiday. This may affect the availability of flights for Taiwanese businesspeople working in China who plan to travel home over the New Year.

However, Cabinet Secretary-General Cho Jung-tai says that 313 other cross-strait flights have been approved and added to flight schedules over the New Year season.

Meanwhile, the Straits Exchange Foundation suggests that travelers fly other airlines, use other airports, and travel through Hong Kong or other cities. It also says that China Airlines and EVA Air will increase their capacity over the New Year by adding further flights and using bigger planes.     [FULL  STORY]
