Chinese temple prays, donates for Taiwan quake victims (update)

Shanghai, Feb. 14 (CNA) A Buddhist temple in Shanghai held a dharma 201602140021t0001session Sunday to pray for the peace of souls of those killed in a magnitude-6.4 earthquake that hit southern Taiwan Feb. 6.

Yu Fo (Jade Buddha) Temple (玉佛禪寺) also donated 500,000 yuan (NT$2.5 million, US$75,600) to help the bereaved families rebuild their life.

The temple’s Abbot Jue Xing, who is also vice president of the Buddhist Association of China, led a group of monks to pray for the victims and extend their best wishes for the survivors.

On behalf of the Taiwanese victims and their families, Hu Hsing-chung (胡興中), vice president of the Shanghai Association of Taiwan, thanked Jue Xing for his goodwill and kind efforts.     [FULL  STORY]
