Taipei, Dec. 2 (CNA) Former New York Yankees pitcher Chien-Ming Wang (王建民) of Taiwan said after a training camp session in Taipei Saturday that he feels that coaching players is even tougher than learning how to pitch.
The 37-year-old right-hander, who helped train local players in a five-day pitching camp hosted in Taipei by the Florida Baseball Ranch (FBR), said a pitching coach must first be able to recognize the faults in each of his pitchers, and then come up with plans to help them improve.
“Coaching is tougher than pitching,” Wang said in response to his brief experience as an assistant coach.
Wang, who resides in the United States, said he is more used to being a player, and that coaching has been a new learning experience for him. [FULL STORY]
