TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwanese female Taekwondo athlete Lin Kan-tu (林侃諭)

punched and kicked her way to Taiwan’s first medal of the 2017 Taipei Universiade by taking a silver medal in the Taekwondo women’s individual poomsae (forms, 品勢) event on Sunday.
Though Lin was leading all competitors in the first round with a score of 8.16, Thi Le Kim Nguyen of Vietnam edged out her Taiwanese opponent to capture the gold in the second round with a total score of 7.593 to Lin’s 7.540.

Adalis J Munoz of the United States and Fatemeh Hesam of Iran took third and fourth places, respectively, both of whom were awarded bronze medals.
Lin said that she was was moved to finally have a chance to perform on such a big stage and to complete what she had set out to do. [FULL STORY]
