Released on Thursday, Greenpeace’s latest report highlights a number of human rights violations committed by Taiwan’s fishery professionals. They include the Giant Ocean Case, in which Taiwanese fishermen were involved in human trafficking in Cambodia, and were subsequently acquitted due to alleged lack of evidence. Another case highlighted in the report was about an Indonesian fisherman who was found dead on a Taiwanese fishing boat with signs of torture. The captain was fined and had his license revoked.

The fisheries agency said that they hope Greenpeace could be more constructive in their criticism and recognize the fisheries’ effort to improve working conditions in the industry.
