Five Taiwanese groups to perform at Avignon Festival Off

Five Taiwanese groups are set to perform in the upcoming Avignon Festival Off, bringing a diverse copy1lineup of dance, drama and visual arts performances.

From July 5-25, Riverbed Theatre, 8213 Physical Dance Theater, Langasan Theatre, Horse and In Theatre will stage shows at the Avignon Festival Off, a fringe event that parallels the annual Avignon Festival, Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture said Monday.

Riverbed Theatre will perform Reves de riz, a production that draws inspiration from traditional Liyuan opera and Nanguan dance, and 8213 Physical Dance Theater will present an experimental dance theater piece called Unlimited Soul.

Langasan Theatre will stage the production Misa-Lisin, which includes ancient indigenous Amis tunes, rituals and myths.

FreeSteps by dance group Horse will focus on six dancers and their movements, rhythms and moods, and In Theatre’s Tschuss!! Bunny will explore the meaning of parting and rebirth through humor and dance.     [FULL  STORY]
