Taipei, Oct. 3 (CNA) Several foreign diplomats posted in Taiwan took part in this year’s
Sun Moon Lake Swimming Carnival and turned in good performances at the popular tourist destination in the central county of Nantou late last month.
Damion Potter, the United Kingdom’s deputy representative to Taiwan, finished in 14th place in the event, which involved a three-kilometer swim across the lake.
“I was delighted to be able to join 2,000 Taiwanese in the annual swim across Sun Moon Lake,” he said. “It was a great challenge in gorgeous surroundings. Finishing amongst the top 20 swimmers was a real bonus,” he added.
Other foreign participants in the competition included Viktoria Lovenberg, deputy head of the European Economic and Trade Office in Taiwan, and Beatriz Curiel, a trade official at the office, who came in 12th and seventh place, respectively. [FULL STORY]
