Fubon Financial Holdings (富邦金控) and the E-United Group, former owner of the EDA Rhinos, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) Wednesday for Fubon to become the new owner of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL, 中華職棒) team.
Much of the focus was on whether Fubon, one of Taiwan’s leading financial holding firms, would rename the team or appoint a new coach.
Fubon said the title is still under deliberation, but revealed the team will not be called the Fubon Braves (富邦勇士) or Fubon Bulls (富邦公牛), after other sports teams the group has sponsored.
According to local media reports, the team, currently based in Kaohsiung, will relocate to either Xinzhuang in New Taipei city or Taipei’s Tianmu. [FULL STORY]
