The parents of a Taipei Medical University dentistry student who died of severe burns
on Friday have decided to donate his organs, calling the move another way for him to “fulfill the sacred mission of a doctor.”
The son, 23-year-old Su Chia-shen, was pronounced brain dead at Far Eastern Memorial Hospital in Banciao District, New Taipei, on Friday, becoming the fourth person to die from dust explosions at a water park in New Taipei on June 27 that left nearly 500 people injured.
In a statement on Su’s death released by Taipei Medical University, Su’s father said Su had hoped to make contributions to society after graduation with what he learned at the medical school.
No longer able to graduate, Su could still “fulfill the sacred mission of a doctor in another way,” his father said. [FULL STORY]
