Indigenous languages get words for ‘radiation,’ ‘acid rain’

A new word list put out by the Council of Indigenous Peoples has brought official terms for “radiation” and “acid rain” to Taiwan’s indigenous languages.

The list of new vocabulary is the latest in a series the council has produced since 2015 in cooperation with the education ministry. Coming up with the new words is the responsibility of the council’s Indigenous Languages Research and Development Center.
