The International Air Safety Summit (IASS) will be held in Taiwan for the first time in 2019.
The IASS is held each year by the US-based Flight Safety Foundation, the largest and
longest-running civilian flight safety organization in the world. Its members include airlines and safety institutions from 150 countries.
Deputy transportation minister Wang Kwo-tsai signed a memorandum of understanding with the foundation on Friday, which led to the latest development.
Wang said it is important for Taiwan to hold the event as it will help develop the domestic aviation industry. This is one of seven industries that the government is looking to transform and upgrade. Wang also said that Taiwan’s industry professionals look forward to exchanging ideas on flight safety with their peers from the rest of the world. [SOURCE]
