Taipei, Oct. 6 (CNA) Taiwanese players did not do well on the opening day of the Fubon LPGA Taiwan

Championship Thursday, with professional Tsai Pei-ying (蔡佩穎) and amateur Chang Ya-chun (張雅淳) firing a one-under 71 to tie with eight others to rank 14th, while once-world No. 1 Yani Tseng (曾雅妮) was placed 73rd with 79.

Japan’s Sakura Yokomine led the pack of 81 with a five-under 67 after carding five birdies, one eagle and two bogies. She was followed by Paula Creamer of the United States, Amy Yang of South Korea and Brooke Henderson of Canada, who tied at 2nd place with a score of 68.

None of the Taiwanese players, including two amateurs, were able to card 69 to tie at fifth. Five foreign golfers did that: Park Hee-young and Jang Ha-na of South Korea, Beatriz Recari of Spain, Ai Miyazato of Japan and South Africa’s Lee-Anne Pace.    [FULL  STORY]
