a lucky turn in his young life that nearly ended prematurely earlier this year, an animal charity group said.

Aptly named “Lucky,” the young black male canine was picked up as a stray puppy in February in Kaohsiung, southern Taiwan, said Ni Jing-tai, a spokesman for Animal Rescue Team Taiwan.

He nearly died of multiple wounds that may have been caused by other strays, Ni said.

Veterinarians were able to save his life but his two hind legs became paralyzed because of the wounds he had sustained.

Luckily he is now able to move around and even run with the two wheels that are strapped to his body, Ni told reporters.

Workers of a animal welfare group based in Canada learned the story of Lucky’s recovery and found a family for him so he is flying out from Kaohsiung Sunday night with five other dogs to begin their new lives, Ni said.    [FULL  STORY]
