Migrant workers will take to the streets on Sunday to press their demand for abolition
of the private employment brokerage system among other issues, according to the organizers.
The protesters will gather in front of the Ministry of Labor on Yanping North Road in Taipei in the afternoon and begin marching at 1 p.m. toward the Presidential Office, said the Taiwan International Workers’ Association.
The workers will call for the current private employment brokerage system to be replaced by a direct country-to-country hiring system, the association said.
It urged the Taiwan government to take up the role of a moderator between migrant workers and employers. [FULL STORY]
