More than 400 cases of heat-related illnesses reported in May

Taipei, May 31 (CNA) Over 400 heat-related illnesses were reported in Taiwan in May,

according to Ministry of Health and Welfare (MHW) statistics released Thursday.

A total of 419 cases of heat-related illness had been reported across the country as of May 30, the highest for the same month in the last four years, the statistics show.

In May of 2015, 2016 and 2017, there were 196, 366 and 160 reported cases of heat-related illness, respectively, according to the statistics.

Health Promotion Administration (HPA) Director-General Wang Ying-wei (王英偉) said there are several points to remember for preventing heat injuries, including wearing lightweight, loose, light-colored clothing that provides ventilation.    [FULL  STORY]
