President Tsai Ing-wen says the government will unveil new guidelines on dementia

by the end of this year. Tsai was speaking Friday while meeting with representatives from Alzheimer’s Disease International and the Taiwan Alzheimer’s Disease Association.

Tsai said the guidelines will be based on the global action plan introduced by the World Health Organization (WHO) in May.

Tsai said more than 260,000 people in Taiwan have been diagnosed with dementia. It is estimated that there will be an increase of 10,000 people on average every year in the future.
