The National Immigration Agency said Friday that it plans to roll out an online platform for foreign nationals to apply for an employment “gold card.”

The move is a follow-up measure to legislation passed in October to make it easier for skilled foreign professionals to remain in Taiwan. The agency said the platform will speed up the process of application, verification and renewal. Qualified foreign nationals will be able to apply online for the “gold card,” which comprises a flexible work permit, residence card and re-entry permit.
