Premier William Lai paid a visit to members of the Coast Guard Administration who were at work on Thursday, which is an important day off for most people in Taiwan: the Lunar New Year’s Eve.
Lai visited the Ye Liu Harbor Safety Inspection Office in New Taipei City and expressed gratitude to the coast guard personnel who were working during the holiday. He said that, while most of Taiwan is on vacation for the Lunar New Year, the coast guard is working extra hard. He said that their duties include safeguarding the nation, cracking down on smuggling, keeping fishermen safe, and offering maritime disaster relief.
Lai encouraged the coast guard to continue to prevent maritime criminal activities, especially drug-related crimes, in order to keep the public in Taiwan safe from harm.
