The FIRA Roboworld Cup 2018 will be held in the city of Taichung from August 6 to 11.
The event will see teams of robots from different countries face off in a series of soccer
games. The goal is to showcase the latest robotic technologies, including artificial intelligence, navigation, and motion control.
Chen Liang-gee, the head of the Ministry of Science and Technology, attended the flag handover ceremony on Friday. Chen said that he hopes Taiwan’s contenders will train hard and showcase the country’s strength in AI development.
Central Taiwan Science Park director-general Chen Ming-huang said the science park will continue to train talent in robot tech at all levels, including from elementary and high schools, as well as universities.
