Taipei, Sept. 17 (CNA) Shares in Taiwan edged lower Monday, but still remained above the 10,800-point mark from the previous session.

The Taiwan Stock Exchange’s main index closed down 39.53 points, or 0.36 percent, at 10,828.61, after moving between 10,883.98 and 10,806.73. Turnover totaled NT$89.775 billion (US$2.91 billion).

Losers outnumbered gainers 511 to 296, with 108 stocks remaining unchanged.

In the electronics sector, all major suppliers in the Apple supply chain moved down, with contract chipmaker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), the most heavily weighted stock on the local market, shedding 1.15 percent to close at NT$258.00.
