Study says antibiotics could make heart attacks more deadly

A new study shows that when rats are given antibiotics high enough to clear out all the bacteria in their digestive tracts, their risk of dying after a heart attack is 100%. That’s because antibiotics disrupt the production of short chain fatty acids, which the body needs to repair itself after a heart attack. Researchers say the best approach with antibiotics is to use them sparingly.
