Taipei, Nov. 23 (CNA) The secretary-general of Taipei City government, Su 201511230030t0001Li-chiung (蘇麗瓊), has been named as the chief executive of the 29th Summer Universiade, which will be held on Aug. 19-30, 2017 in Taipei, city government spokesman Lin Ho-ming (林鶴明) said Monday.

The reason Mayor Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) named Su to take the job while serving in her current position is that he wants someone who can continue to oversee personnel affairs and still be able to immediately begin work to organize the international sports event in Taipei, the capital city of Taiwan, Lin said.

The 2017 Universiade will be the largest international sports event that Taiwan will host.     [FULL  STORY]
