Taipei, Oct. 21 (CNA) Hsieh Pei-ni tendered her resignation as head of Taipei’s Department of Cultural Affairs on Friday, making her the second cultural chief to leave the administration of Mayor Ko Wen-je in less than two years.
Hsieh said she needed a long rest to recuperate and focus on her health issues, according to Taipei City Government spokesman Sidney Lin . The resignation was approved by Ko and will take effect on Oct. 25, Lin said.
Hsieh, who succeeded Ni Chung-hwa in February, is the city’s second cultural chief since Ko took office in December 2014.
Prior to Hsieh’s resignation, 15 senior officials in Ko’s administration had stepped down, including Department of Legal Affairs chief Yang Fang-ling and Department of Education chief Tang Chih-min , who both quit in September. [FULL STORY]
