Taiwan is hoping to take part in this year’s Interpol general assembly. The meeting is set to take place in the United Arab Emirates in November.
Criminal Investigation Bureau commissioner Tsai Tsan-po has filed a request to allow the bureau to represent Taiwan at the assembly.
A foreign ministry official said Tuesday that the government has been approaching what he called “key people” for support for Taiwan’s bid.
The ministry says Taiwan hopes to participate in Interpol’s meetings, mechanisms, and activities. These include training activities covering the use of Interpol’s I-24/7 Global Police Communications System. [FULL STORY]
