Taipei, Aug. 18 (CNA) China Airlines (CAL) and EVA Airways, two of Taiwan’s leading airlines, will be among the sponsors of the 2017 Summer Universiade in Taipei, offering discounted tickets to delegations from participating countries.
At a press conference to announce the sponsorship Thursday, Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) said special fares and luggage allowances will be available to the teams traveling on CAL and EVA Airways from other countries, and the two airlines will promote the Games in their magazines and in-flight videos.
The value of the sponsorship by the two airlines will amount to over NT$300 million (US$9.53 million), said Ko, adding that he hopes the Games will help promote Taiwan on the world stage. [FULL STORY]
