closely watching the development of an alliance created Monday by eight of their low-cost counterparts in the region.

Eight low-cost carriers in Asia and Australia announced in Singapore the establishment of the Value Alliance, with the aim of offering one-stop booking by the end of the year.

The eight carriers are Tigerair Singapore, Tigerair Australia, Cebu Pacific of the Philippines, South Korea’s Jeju Air, Thai-based Nok Air and NokScoot, Singapore-based Scoot and Japan’s Vanilla Air.

The alliance said passengers will be able to book through a new online platform developed by United Kingdom-based Air Black Box, and pay one fee for flights booked with its member carriers, compared with the fees currently charged separately by different carriers through their respective websites.   [FULL  STORY]
