Taipei, Aug. 6 (CNA) An U-12 Taiwanese baseball team made 11 hits, including two home runs, on the way to defeating Mexico 10-4 Tuesday to win the PONY Bronco World Series for the second consecutive year.
The Taiwanese team, comprised mostly of players from Beinan Elementary School (卑南國小) in eastern Taitung County, opened up the scoring in the first inning with a double and a triple.
The Mexican team rallied, exploiting several mistakes by the Taiwanese defense to level the score 3-3 at the bottom of the first inning.
However, Taiwan's high-powered offense was unstoppable from the third inning and the Taiwanese team ran away with the match, scoring seven more runs, including home runs by Su Cheng-hsien (蘇政憲) and Chiu Yen-tsu (邱彥祖). [FULL STORY]
