Manila, March 19 (CNA) A delegation of 27 Taiwanese suppliers on Monday held talks with more than 150 potential foreign buyers and investors and 90 firms in Manila as part of a trip to explore business and trade opportunities in the Philippines.

The delegation organized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) is made up of representatives from the information and communications technology, automotive parts, clean energy, machinery, lighting, electric vehicle and electronics appliances industries.

Delegation head Chuang Suo-hang (莊碩漢), TAITRA vice chairman, said efforts by the Philippine government to develop the local manufacturing sector provide many opportunities for Taiwanese businesses.

Chuang suggests that Taiwanese companies should view Southeast Asia as an extended market for domestic products rather than a production base, as the best way to generate economic growth in Taiwan.    [FULL  STORY]
