The chief of the National Security Bureau (NSB) resigned Monday over a cigarette-smuggling scandal.

The move came after a NSB agent who accompanied President Tsai Ing-wen on her recent overseas trip allegedly smuggled over US$191,000 worth of cigarettes into Taiwan.
