Taipei, Aug. 10 (CNA) A Taiwanese team representing the Asia Pacific region staved off elimination twice on Sunday to propel itself into a showdown for a place in the 2015 Pony League Bronco World Series in California on Monday.

The Taiwanese team, which lost its first game in the double elimination tournament, knocked out a team from Swansea, Massachusetts 24-3 in its first game on Sunday and then upended the previously unbeaten squad of Bayamon from Puerto Rico 11-8.

Because it was the Caribbean representative’s first loss in the bracket, Taiwan will have to defeat Bayamon again on Monday afternoon in California time to earn a spot in the World Series final against a team representing the tournament’s host city, Los Alamitos, California.     [FULL  STORY]
