TAIPEI — The 2016 Tug of War International Federation (TWIF) World Outdoor Championships wrapped up in Sweden Sunday with the Taiwanese women’s team obtaining a total of six gold medals, the best ever performance achieved by the team in the biennial competitions.

Taiwan’s gold medal haul at the Tug of War World Championship included one in the women’s 540-kilogram category on Sunday, the first time that the team has won in that weight class since it began to take part in the competition in 2010.

The team, comprising students from National Taiwan Normal University and Taipei Jingmei Girls High School, also won the women’s under-23 500 kilogram category and the women’s 500-kilogram category at the world championship on Saturday.
