Taiwanese baseball team makes it into finals at Universiade

the 2015 Summer Universiade in Gwangju, South Korea on Friday, succeeding in winning its ticket to the finals.

It was the fourth victory Taiwan gained in the baseball event of the international multi-sport competition held every two years. Before Friday’s win, Taiwanese baseball players took down their rivals from Mexico, the United States and Czech Republic in the preliminary round.

The team will fight against Japan for the gold medal at 6 p.m. Saturday Taipei time.

In Friday’s game, Taiwan’s starter pitcher Sung Chia-hao (宋家豪) and his successor Lin Tzu-wei (林子崴) joined hands to perform a perfect shutout, with their team scoring one point in the fifth and sixth innings, respectively.     [FULL  STORY]
