Taipei, May 22 (CNA) Taiwanese flyweight boxer Huang Hsiao-wen (黃筱雯) made it through to the finals of the biennial International Boxing Association (AIBA) Women’s Junior and Youth World Boxing Championships Friday by defeating a South Korean opponent.
At the tournament held in New Taipei’s Xinzhuang Gymnasium, the 17-year-old Huang beat South Korean opponent Lee Sukyeong in a unanimous 3-0 decision in a semifinal bout in the 51-kilogram weight class.
Throughout the three-round match, the 1.75-meter Huang used her height advantage over her Korean rival to defend herself and throw some effective punches. [FULL STORY]
