Taiwan’s female lightweight boxer Lin Ya-xuan defeated Veronika Villas of Hungary on Wednesday to advance to the quarter-finals of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Women’s Junior and Youth World Boxing Championships in New Taipei City.
Lin, who is seen as one of Taiwan’s best boxers in the championships, won a unanimous 3-0 decision in a match that she dominated from the opening bell.
Throughout the three-round match, Lin proved to be the aggressor, stalking Villas and pinning her against the ropes. Lin threw several effective punches and by the final round, Villas appeared fatigued.
The judges unanimously awarded the match to Lin, who is a student at Taipei Municipal Yu Cheng High School. [FULL STORY]
