Taiwanese duo advance to table tennis final at Australia Open

Hung-chieh (江宏傑) advanced to the final of the men’s doubles at Australia Open after defeating their Singaporean rivals 3-2 (12-14, 11-7, 8-11, 11-4 and 11-7). in the semifinals in Gold Coast on Thursday.

The Taiwanese duo will take on a South Korean team comprised of Jang Woo-jin and Park Gang-hy in the final to be held on Friday to vie for the men’s doubles title. The South Koreans beat their Japanese rivals 3-0 (11-9, 11-5 and 11-8) in another semifinal match on the same day.

The US$500,000 event, which opened on July 4, is the world’s richest table tennis open event on the 2017 International Table Tennis Federation’s (ITTF) world tour calendar. It will run through July 7 with the participation of 150 athletes from around 30 countries vying for titles of men’s individuals, men’s doubles, women’s individuals, women’s doubles and mixed doubles.    [SOURCE]
