Chi-lin (王齊麟) beat their South Korean opponents Friday to advance to the men’s doubles semifinals at the 2018 Daihatsu Yonex Japan Open in Tokyo.

The Taiwanese pair, ranked 11th in the world, defeated the 29th-ranked South Korean duo of Seo Seung Jae and Kim Won Ho 21-17, 21-19 in a match that lasted 40 minutes.

Before Friday’s match, the Taiwanese pair was ousted by the South Korean duo in the 2018 Jakarta Palembang Asian Games in August.

Chen and Wang were the only Taiwanese players to make it to the quarterfinals this year. The two pairs fought a seesaw battle in the opening game, with the South Korean duo leading 16-12 before being tied at 17-17. The Taiwanese then scored four points to claim victory 21-17.    [FULL  STORY]
