The second-seeded Chan and Makarova beat sixth seeds Andreja Klepac of Slovakia and Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez of Spain 6-4, 7-6 (3) in the semifinals to book a spot in Sunday’s final against Ashleigh Barty of Australia and Demi Schuurs of the Netherlands.

With the victory, the 28-year-old Taiwanese earned a spot in the Rogers Cup women’s doubles final for the first time in her long career and also picked up enough ranking points to move into the top spot in the world in women’s doubles.

She moved up to second in the doubles rankings this past week after winning the doubles with Czech veteran Kveta Peschke in the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic on Aug. 5    [FULL  STORY]
