Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus failed to reach the fourth round of the women’s doubles at the U.S. Open on Monday, after they lost to their opponents in straight sets 5-7, 4-6.

The duo was defeated by Elise Mertens of Belgium and Demi Schuurs of the Netherlands in a match that lasted just 92 minutes.

With her defeat in the doubles match, Hsieh will exit the U.S. grand slam since she had also been eliminated in the second round of the women’s singles on Aug. 30 in a loss to Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia.

Last Sunday, world No. 3 Latisha Chan (詹詠然) of Taiwan and Victoria Azarenka of Belarus also ended their U.S. Open run, after Chan retired from a match in the second round of the women’s doubles due to injury.    [FULL  STORY]
