a good showing in early March, won the singles title at a lower tier ITF event in Shenzhen on Sunday.
Hsieh, seeded third in the US$25,000 tournament, defeated unseeded Yang Zhaoxuan of China 6-2, 6-2 in Sunday’s final after having whipped top-seeded Duan Yingying 6-1, 6-2 in the semifinals a day earlier.
The win will earn Hsieh 50 ranking points, which should help her singles ranking improve from its current 155th in the world to somewhere inside the top 140. [FULL STORY]
