Taipei, May 3 (CNA) Taiwan’s Tai Tzu-ying (戴資穎) regained her world No. 1 ranking after
successfully defending the Badminton Asia Championships title last weekend, according to the Badminton World Federation (BWF) on Thursday.
Tai held the top spot in the BWF’s world rankings for 72 consecutive weeks, but fell to second place after a recent change in the federation’s scoring system.
On Sunday, the Taiwanese player defeated Chen Yufei (陳雨菲) of China 21-19, 22-20 in the women’s singles final to win the 2018 Badminton Asia Championships, held in Wuhan, China, from April 24-29.
That was her second consecutive victory in the annual tournament. [FULL STORY]
