Taiwan’s Tai Tzu-ying advances to semifinals at Malaysia Open

ying (戴資穎) advanced to the women’s singles seminfinals at the Celcom Axiata Malaysia Open 2018 after defeating the host country’s Goh Jin Wei with straight games 21-15 and 21-15 on Friday.

The 24-year-old defending champion took a while to warm up in the opening game and began to rally her plays after trailing her 18-year-old rival 6-11 at the mid game interval break.

In the second game, Tai demonstrated her superiority over her Malaysian rival and won the match in a relatively easier manner.

Tai will take on India’s Pusarla V. Sindhu in the semifinals Saturday. The world No. 1 has won eight of the 11 competitions with Sindhu and their last four meetings since the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.    [FULL  STORY]
